Coach Foster was named the head coach of SMS on May 20, 2021. He is a graduate of Emporia State University where he earned his B.S. in Business Administration as well as his teaching certification. After teaching business classes like Financial Literacy, Web Design, Accounting and Investing for a decade, Coach Foster moved to the weight room in the Fall of ’22. He also holds his Masters in Coaching and Fitness Leadership.
Foster came to South from the staff of Mill Valley High School where he coached the quarterbacks and was a part of back-to-back state championships. He started his coaching career at Waverly High School before coaching at Blue Valley Southwest for 5 years.
Coach Foster grew up in Johnson County before the family moved to Wolfforth, TX (near Lubbock) where he played football and graduated from Frenship High School. His family later moved back to the JoCo area where he chose to also put down roots.
Coach and his wife, Ashley, were married in 2016. They live in Overland Park with their 5-year-old daughter, Finley, and 4-year-old son, Pierce (PJ).
Coach White is entering his 16th year coaching football. White has extensive championship-level experience, as four of his 15 seasons culminated in a state title. Coach White is a graduate of MNU where he played Safety for the Pioneers from 2005 to 2010.
Coach White and his wife Myeesa have four boys: the twins, Jaxon and Maximus (9), Lennix (8) and Syx (1).
This will be Coach White’s 2nd season as Assistant Head Coach and 5th season as the Defensive Coordinator for South, and he is very excited about the group he has returning and the opportunity they all have to grow the South Side Defensive brand of football.
Coach Bromley is excited for his third season coaching at Shawnee Mission South this year, where he also teaches in the Social Studies Department. Coach Bromley grew up locally and graduated from the Olathe School District, then graduated from Kansas State University.
Following graduation, Coach Bromley worked and coached at Maize South High School for two years. He is excited to continue working with the D-Line this year!
Coach Flip has eight years’ coaching experience and will be working with our Safeties. Doug is originally from New Jersey, where he played for perennial powerhouse Bergen Catholic High School and won a State Championship as a Junior. He then went on to play football at Iona University in New Rochelle, NY where he played Corner Back and Strong Safety.
After college, Doug married his wife, Sarah, (originally from Blue Springs, MO) and moved back to the KC area. They have three kids in the Shawnee Mission School District: Luke – Class of 2029, Harper – Class of 2031 and Ibby – Class of 2034.
Outside of football, Doug owns a successful Independent Financial Advisory practice and tax and accounting firm. When he isn’t working or coaching, you can find him at the fields watching his kids play sports.
Coach Flip is fired up to join the staff and contribute to building the culture of Raider Football.
Damon Gebhardt earned his Bachelor of Arts in History and Religious Studies as well as his Certification in Secondary Education from Baker University. While at Baker, he started for two years on the Baker University Football Team.
This is Coach Gebhardt’s 4th year coaching at South, as well as his 4th teaching social studies in the building. Damon lives in Overland Park with his wife Liz and their dog Baker. Liz also teaches social studies at South and is the Head Softball Coach.
This season Gebhardt is looking forward to continuing the traditions we are building here at Shawnee Mission South Football.
William Griffin is from Kansas City, Missouri and graduated from Grandview High School. He played college football at Pitt State and MidAmerican Nazarene University where he graduated with a B.A. in Sports Management Education.
He and his wife Shawntae Griffin have 3 kids: Jasmyn: 23, Kobe: 14, and Kayson: 8. Coach Griffin is looking forward to being around the boys again and continuing to helping them become young men on and off the field.
Coach Johnson will be entering his 4th year of coaching. He will serve as the Head Strength and Conditioning coach for Shawnee Mission South and also as the Varsity Linebackers coach. Coach Johnson has a Bachelor’s degree in Sport Studies with an emphasis in Physical Education as well as a Masters degree in Elementary Education. He earned both from Ottawa University in Ottawa, KS. Johnson is also a certified High School Strength and Conditioning coach earning his National High School Strength and Conditioning Certification from the NHSSCA. He is also pursuing his CSCS from the NSCA.
Born and raised in El Dorado, KS Johnson attended El Dorado High School and graduated in 2017. During his time he played Football and Basketball where he was an All-League selection at linebacker his junior and senior year. Johnson then committed to play football at Ottawa University. During his time at Ottawa University Johnson was a standout for the Braves at linebacker. He played for the Braves from 2017-2021.
After his time at Ottawa University Johnson entered the coaching field spending his first 2 seasons at Ottawa High School in Ottawa, KS. He served as the Linebackers coach, JV Defensive Coordinator and also did Special Teams. This past year he coached at Blue Valley North High School and served as the Defensive Backs coach, Special Teams Coordinator, and also the Freshmen and JV Defensive Coordinator.Coach Johnson and his wife Jasmin live in the Overland Park area. Jasmin is the head Olathe high school girls womens lacrosse coach and does marketing. They enjoy fitness, food, movies, sports, and getting outside.

Originally from Ottawa, KS, Coach McCally attended the University of Kansas to obtain a degree in Secondary Education with a concentration in history of government, graduating in 2021.
He is currently a social studies teacher at Shawnee Mission South High School.
This will be his third year on the coaching staff and he is extremely excited to begin working with this new position group to expand my knowledge of the game of football.
McCally will be entering his 5th year of marriage this summer to wife, Kyra. They welcomed their first child, Easton, at the beginning of the 2024 football season.
Jackson loves spending time with his family and being involved with their church.
Coach Richter is from Northwest Iowa and a recent graduate of Iowa State University. He earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Kinesiology, Physical and Health Education. He will be entering his 2nd season as a football coach. In his first year coaching at North Polk High School in Iowa, the team went on to win the 4A State Championship.
Kolby is excited to be moving to the Shawnee Mission South and joining the staff. He will be the receivers coach and looks forward to continuing to grow as a coach and serving the athletes, coaches, and school. He will be the in-building substitute for Shawnee Mission South in the 2025-26 school year.
Coach Reggie McElroy brings over 40 years of football experience to Shawnee Mission South, now entering his second season leading the freshman team. A native of Beaumont, Texas, he played college football at West Texas State University before a 15-year NFL career as an offensive lineman. His professional playing career included time with the New York Jets (1982–1989), Los Angeles Raiders (1991–1992), Kansas City Chiefs (1993), Minnesota Vikings (1994), and Denver Broncos (1995–1996).
Following his NFL career, Coach McElroy began coaching at the high school, college, and international levels, including NFL Europe, Bacone College, and several high schools across Missouri and Kansas. He joined Shawnee Mission South in 2024 and is committed to developing student-athletes on and off the field.
He and his wife, Joni, were married in 2023 and have four children: Michael, Crystal, Christopher, and Clayton.
Coach “Kibby” was an all-EKL linebacker at Blue Valley North High School. He went on to receive his undergraduate degree in History from the University of Kansas and then earned his Master’s Degree in Secondary Special Education from Pittsburg State University.
Chris has been coaching football for 13 years with time at Lawrence Free State and the last 10 years at Shawnee Mission South. He works as a Special Education Teacher at SMS.
Chris has two sons: Nash, age 10 and Nix, age 8.
Coach Kibby is looking forward to getting back to a winning culture and working towards a State Championship.
Coach Brown is a passionate and experienced coach who spent three summers teaching at the Topgolf Summer Academy, where he helped young players develop their skills and love for the game. A native of Overland Park, Brian is a proud graduate of Shawnee Mission West, where his leadership and dedication both on and off the field left a lasting impression.
Beyond golf, football has always been a core part of Brian’s life. Growing up immersed in the game, he developed a deep understanding and appreciation for the sport that continues to influence his approach to coaching and mentoring. Whether on the course or the field, Brian brings energy, knowledge, and a true passion for helping others grow.
